Juan López picked his first coffee cherry at 12. Today, alongside his wife Arilia, son David, daughter Alexandra, and even his toddling grandchildren Matias and Zanira, he stewards a small Panamanian farm with the soul of an empire.
The farm is divided into eight “cortes,” each a hectare, each home to a different variety. Every cherry is handpicked during harvest by skilled workers paid above-market wages—not just to ensure quality, but because that’s the kind of farm this is.
At Boquete, nothing is wasted. Yucca, corn, bananas, mandarins—grown for the table. Milk, cheese, and butter—from their own cow. Fertilizer? Naturally made. Coffee? Always drunk black, sin azúcar, as it’s been in the López home for generations.
And now—for the very first time—you can share in it, too.
